Each year, thousands of adventurers flock to beautiful Peekaboo and Spooky slot canyons in the heart of Utah’s Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Just to the east, however, less than an hour’s walk from the mouth of Spooky, lies a bigger, badder alternative. It's probably the most photographed (published) slot canyon in the world. I've free-soloed all four of them, about 60 feet average, to the surface. Oct 30, 2019 · We’re headed toward Robber’s Roost, an exceptionally remote part of Utah just west of Canyonlands National Park in search of a slot canyon known as the Northeast Spur Fork. Near the end of the canyon, a collapsed wall creates a cavelike tunnel before opening to a sunlit room.

High Spur is a highly photogenic slot canyon with an assortment of opportunities. High Spur is rated 3A III using the Canyon Rating System. This canyon requires complete technical gear. A GPS is useful. Good map reading skills are essential. There are no bolted anchors in this canyon, let's preserve this feature.
